Fong Lye Restaurant

Passed by this place a couple of times. Forever jam pack especially during weekends.

They serve lime juice while waiting to enter the restaurant.

Gui Hua + Oo Long tea
(please excuse my not very graceful tea boy. tsk tsk)

Braised beef glass noodle soup

Braised beef was pretty good. Thin slice tasted rather sweet. Din't like the glass noodle though. Probably the exact thing but with noodles would've tasted better. The same side dishes are served to all set meals though it may appear different in the menu. 1. Pickled cucumber was good but rather ordinary dish. 2. I like the one in the middle best. Stir fried something. Can't recall taste like yam cake with crispy trimming and some vege inside. 3. Pickled vege and clam. Pretty good. It was lil sourish and appetizing.

Spicy Pork Intestine Set

Personally not a fan of intestines at all. The soup was not that spicy and tasted more like pepper + oil soup. So so only but Mr. Chee liked it so much very much. The soup (the one on the bottom left) was radish + carrot. Sweeeeeeeeeeet. I love it!

Side dish - Pork Intestine mee sua

Another dish that I din't enjoy. The gravy was rather weird. Sourish + sweet + pepper. Mr. Chee loved every bit of it though.

Appetizer - Rou Yuan

The outer layer is made out of flour accompanied with minced beef or pork inside. Can't recall. The dough is really gummy though we ate it right after been served. *yucks* and the gravy tasted more like ketchup + weird stuff and smell. Really don't know how to describe I just don't like it! There.

Steam Fish Marinated with Pineapple

Salted vege soup - not too bad but as it wasn't too salty and had the sweet soup taste. But I prefer the radish soup mentioned earlier. The fish was good. If you eat it along with the small bits of asam it taste better! Plus its boneless and din't have that stinky fish smell. I don't usually like eat steam fish in restaurants because of that stingy smell. I would say is the best dish for the night. However, be prepared to wait if you order this. Btw the portion for all dishes were rather small too because I managed finished my bowl of rice! tsk tsk.

Something Peanut (Snow Mountain I supposed?)

Was really good! Tasted like "fa sang wu" (the Chinese dessert) except is frozen. Plus its not too sweet. I really liked the feeling of chewing lil bits of ice.

Overall, an average place to dine in. Just that you would have to know which to order. Or probably I'm not much of a Chinese/ Taiwanese food person. That's why. As mentioned the portion was rather small though. Kinda deceived by the photos shown in the menu. Mr. Chee literally finished everything except for the last dish and dessert. Greedy boy. hohoho.

By the way they conduct cash transactions ONLY.
